I ended up getting the corsair vengence and it's excellent. if anyone is in the market for a new headset at a mid-range price (amazon had it for $50 some bucks w/ free shipping), you won't be disappointed with this. I got the non-usb version and currently have it plugged into my front panel speakers/mic jacks and it sounds great!

now anyone up for a game? just lost all my gear and i need to start over. an escort would be invaluable to me.

I'll be getting on the TS server in the next half hour or so (3:30-4:00pm PST). join me!

edit: is the TS server down? I can't seem to connect (83.169.15.128)

perhaps it would be best if we did away with clan tags altogether. they clearly mark us out as an opposing force, and since we will be communicating on TS or wtf ever why bother with them?

i think a clan incognito (i.e. w/ no tags) would be far more dangerous than one easy to recognize by an acronym.

any thoughts?

from what I've seen in my week or two or playing, anyone you don't know in RL (or your clan) is a straight up villain. i have yet to have any meeting w/ a stranger that did not end in my murder for my bandage and can of beans.

well i ended up ordering that headset. looking forward to kicking ass (and taking names as time permits, and also perhaps chewing gum) when it arrives.

let's makes ours the dominate clan that others fear! looking forward to talking and playing w/ you guys. hope you're enjoying the dog days of summer. it's quite hot in Los Angeles at the moment, though until the last month or so our summer has been rather mild.

my headset is busted, so of course while I can hear I cannot respond. from what I've read the global chat is disabled, but do the other chat modes work when you're nearby people?

i'll be getting a new headset soon, any suggestions? i'm thinking of ordering one from tigerdirect or newegg.

I'm brand new and it isn't my place to make a suggestion, so picture me saying this very shyly, but I remember back in the early Quake clan days, there was this 'clan dong' that rather than tags used themed names. like there was mao ze dong, microdong, chow yun dong, etc.

I'm not suggesting we all put penises into our names, but with a different theme it could be very cool, and will certainly stand out amongst the ubiquitous clan tags.

I wish to join the group because: I have no one to play w/. I am an fps veteran (been playing on and off since Doom in 1995!) but this game is just giving me a heap of trouble.

You should trust me because: I'm a mature guy, not the type that will shoot you to take your slightly better gun or beans, and I love teamwork in FPS, which is sorely lacking. I can be counted on to back you up.

My favorite position in a group is: I actually prefer to follow orders, and don't mind hanging out in a sniper tower waiting for a target if those are my instructions.

Do I have a Mic and or TS installed? mic, ts, and skype

My favorite sort of weapon is: i've only been playing for a few days, but I am partial to the AK (pretty much my fav gun in any fps). Although for Day Z I'd love to get my hands on something silenced or w/ a big scope.

I have been playing Day Z for: 1 week

I am a Bandit/Survivor: Survivor. not to say I won't shoot someone I don't know that is acting shady I guess. not that I have had much chance to, I am very new after all.

I understand and agree that If I betray the location of the camps to anyone, and or steal from, or injure another member of the group, I will die in a fiery bolt of lightning, too where I shall spend eternity afterwards in the 9th circle of Hell.

I know I'm about as green as it gets, but I am a FPS veteran and very quick to learn. Plus I follow orders with no grumbling.
